Proteas Rope In Stuart Broad as Bowling Consultant Ahead of WTC Finals

Stuart Broad roped in as Bowling consultant by South Africa

The 38-year-old Stuart Broad will join the Proteas squad on June 9 for their training camp in the UK, ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, set to begin on June 11 at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

Stuart Broad will be assisting South Africa exclusively for the WTC Final, aiming to help them prevent Australia from securing back-to-back WTC titles. This marks his first-ever coaching role since retiring from international cricket.

Stuart Broad’s Lord’s Expertise Key for Proteas

The legendary English pacer retired with 604 Test wickets, including 113 wickets in 28 matches at Lord’s, a venue where he was particularly dominant. He also claimed 158 wickets against Australia during his career, an experience Cricket South Africa believes will be invaluable in preparing their pace attack, led by Kagiso Rabada, to counter Australia’s powerful batting lineup.

Since his retirement, Broad has been a regular part of the SuperSport commentary team and a familiar face in the SA20 broadcast panel for the past two seasons. Now, he steps into a new role, offering strategic support as South Africa’s lead bowling consultant for the high-stakes WTC Final.

The South African squad has already assembled in the UK and begun training. As part of their preparation, they are expected to play a warm-up match against Zimbabwe in Sussex in the lead-up to the WTC Final.
