Sri Lanka Squad Women for the Tri-series

Sri Lanka's women's cricket team has announced its 17-player squad for the upcoming tri-series against India and South Africa. Notably, the squad includes three uncapped players.

The tri-series, hosted by Sri Lanka, is set to begin on April 27th and will be played in One Day International (ODI) format as part of the preparations for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, which will be held in India later this year.

The squad, led by Chamari Atthapattu, has retained most of its experienced players, with the inclusion of newcomers Malki Madara, Dewmi Vihanga, and Piumi Badalge. Among the players called up are Inoka Ranaweera, Hasini Perera, and Hansima Karunaratne.

The spin-heavy squad will miss experienced pacer Udeshika Probodhini due to injury. However, Hasini Perera has been brought in as a backup pace option. The selectors have focused on bolstering their spin talent, featuring players like Sugandika Kumari, Inoshi Priyadharshani, star all-rounder Kavisha Dilhari, and the 19-year-old uncapped spin-bowling all-rounder Vihanga.

Sri Lanka will aim to perform well against India, who announced their squad on April 8, 2025. India also includes many spinners in their lineup. In contrast, South Africa's squad has fewer spinners compared to the other two teams.

Nonetheless, South African Women will look to capitalize on the playing conditions as part of their preparation for the World Cup in India, where the subcontinent pitches are expected to present slow and spin-friendly challenges.
